Canada/Sherbrooke residents can get $500 towards the purchase of an electric bicycle
The City of Sherbrooke encourages active transportation by launching a subsidy program for the purchase of electric bicycles.
The City of Sherbrooke has finally presented the broad outlines of its assistance program for the purchase of an electric bicycle. A fixed basic amount of $500 is available for the purchase of a new or used bike, with a minimum price of $1,000, after rebates and before taxes.
A $50 bonus is available for purchases made from a local retailer, and $150 for low-income earners. Purchases made on or after January1, 2024 are eligible.
The total envelope for 2024 is $105,000. The program operates on a first-come, first-served basis, says the city in a press release. It estimates that it will be able to help between 150 and 210 Sherbrooke residents acquire a bicycle.
To qualify for the subsidy, all you have to do is fill out a form available on the City of Sherbrooke website. Those without Internet access can apply by telephone or by visiting a borough office.
