France/ Concarneau. 50 years of the Twinning Committee celebrated in Bielefeld
The 50th anniversary of Concarneau's twinning with Bielefeld-Senne had been cancelled in 2020. Three years later, at the end of May, the committee organized a six-day trip to the German town, with several visits on the program.
The week was divided between time with host families, visits to various sites and various evening events. As agreed in the program, we visited the Bethel institution and its museum, Dr. Oetker's company and went hiking in the Bielefeld forest," explain the members of the twinning committee. In Gütersloh, we met up with the Cercle Celtique and the Bagad de Concarneau, who gave a superb performance. We also followed them to the weavers' market in Bielefeld, where we enjoyed the entertainment and concerts on offer.
The 50th anniversary of the twinning, prepared by German counterparts Gerhard Haupt and Corinne Cheny, was an opportunity to strengthen the already solid ties during a celebration organized in the company of the bagad, the cercle celtique and the Big band jazz orchestra from the Bielefeld conservatory.
Volunteers are now preparing for the Germans' visit to Concarneau from September 19 to 24. Residents are welcome to host them in their homes.
