In Togo, 20,971 connections had been made by the end of 2023, as part of the deployment of the Tinga fund, an initiative that has been operational since April 2022. This figure, communicated by the Ministry of Economy and Finance in the "Report on the implementation of reforms for the year 2023", corresponds to a 52.42% completion rate, compared with the initial forecast of 40,000 connections.

According to the Ministry in charge of energy, these electrical connections were carried out mainly in the Savanes, Kara and Plateaux regions. Recently, the Minister Delegate for Energy and Mines, Mila Aziablé, indicated that these works had contributed to an increase in the rate of electrification in the beneficiary areas.

Specifically, the electrification rate rose from 22% to 33% between 2022 and 2023 in the Savanes region. Over the same period, electricity coverage rose from 35% to 44% in the Kara subdivision, and from 29% to 39% in the Plateaux region, an increase of 10%.

This fund, launched in the Central region in March 2024 and in the Maritime region at the end of last week, has already reached more than 42,000 households, the equivalent of nearly 300,000 people, according to Minister Mila Aziablé.

It should be noted that the project enables the least privileged Togolese to benefit from an electricity connection, in return for a monthly payment of 1,000 FCFA, over a period of between 04 and 10 years.
