Arnage intends to reactivate strong ties with friendly towns in Europe, including Hude and Kröpelin in Germany, Fiume Veneto in Italy, Salcininkai in Lithuania and Nowe-Miasto in Poland. The town will recreate a twinning committee, disbanded in 2020.

A delegation made up of elected representatives - the mayor, deputy mayors, councillors - and members of the Mille accords choir, travelled to Hude, Germany, from April 4 to 7. The purpose of the trip was to take part in the ceremony celebrating the 40th anniversary of the twinning of the two towns, initiated in 1983 by Guy Gautier and Harmut Stover, then mayors.

It was also an opportunity for Arnage's elected representatives, in addition to exchanging views with local councillors, to discover the town and note the differences in the way it operates: Hude has a council president. The mayor, Jörg Skattula, also DGS, manages the fire station, which we visited with him and the members of the Italian delegation. We also visited the head office of Amazone, a tractor equipment manufacturer of which Class is a customer, and the ruins of the Unesco-listed abbey," explains Eve Sans, mayor of Arnage.

They were also treated to a short Super 8 retrospective of past exchanges. The meeting laid the foundations for joint projects to relaunch a twinning committee. Eve Sans and her deputy Claire Houyel emphasize that priority is given to young people, the guarantors of Europe's future. We want to reach out to young people in concrete ways, and build on things we have in common: sport, music, schools, going beyond Erasmus +, exchanging childcare workers...
