Benin/Université de Parakou: Framework agreement signed with Wuhan University of Geosciences

The University of Parakou and the Wuhan University of Geosciences in China signed a framework agreement on Tuesday April 30, 2024 in the conference room of the University of Parakou Annex Rectorate. The rector of the University of Parakou Bertrand Sogbossi Bocco, the vice-rector in charge of international cooperation Yvette Onibon Dougbogan, the director of the Wuhan University of Geosciences Foreign Students Office, Luo Wenxu, and the cooperation attaché of the Wuhan University of Geosciences, Dr Damien Tiando, were present at the signing ceremony of the framework agreement.

The framework agreement now linking the two universities offers a number of opportunities not only for students, but also for teachers and the University of Parakou as a whole.

Luo Wenxu, Director of the Foreign Students Office at Wuhan University of Geosciences, said that the signing of the framework agreement with the University of Parakou was of the utmost importance for Wuhan University. It strengthens the cooperative relationship between China and Benin. Praising the merits of the Wuhan University of Geosciences, he pointed out that it ranks in the top 5 in the world in the fields of geology, geography and the environment. A major boon for the Parakou university community.

"We're familiar with China's approach, which leads to innovation and offers more space for students to create their own businesses. We are planning to set up an incubation center and a trades center, and seeing the various points of interest in our agreement, we already want to to advocate useful partnerships for the development of the activities of the resource and digital technology center currently being created", said Bertrand Sogbossi Bocco, Rector of the University of Parakou. This will make it possible to realize the dream of the current rectoral team, which is to position the University of Parakou as a respectable university not only in the sub-region, but also internationally.
