The MRC de L'Islet is launching a 3rd phase of its call for projects for the Fonds de soutien aux cafés culturels. This support is part of its Signature innovation approach, which focuses on artistic creation as a development niche for the entire territory. Municipal organization committees, businesses or organizations interested in registering their project in the cultural café network can apply for financial assistance between now and May 15, 2024.

Cultural cafés are inclusive meeting places driven by civic engagement, offering a diversity of cultural activities that enable local artists, both emerging and professional, to perform, and amateurs to experience an incursion into the artistic milieu. What's more, the network enables its members to foster collaboration and sharing between them, as well as ensuring joint, centralized promotion of the activities to be offered in their respective spaces.

The six cultural café projects supported to date, for a total of $175,000, are as follows: The Médiathèque l'Héritage de L'Islet-Sud in Sainte-Perpétue, the Corporation des Arts et de la culture de L'Islet, the Marché aux Caissons and the Cabarets des Joyeux bénévoles de Sainte-Louise, the Municipalité de Saint-Damase-de-L'Islet and the CDC-ICI Montmagny-L'Islet, for its two cultural café projects in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli and Tourville.

The implementation of Signature innovation is made possible by an agreement worth over $1.3 million between the MRC de L'Islet and the Ministère des Affaires municipales et de l'Habitation (MAMH) as part of the Fonds régions et ruralité.
