The commune of N'Djamena's 3ᵉ arrondissement has carried out a vast clean-up operation to improve the urban environment, mobilizing citizens and local authorities around a common goal of cleanliness.

The commune of the 3ᵉ arrondissement vibrated to the rhythm of a vast clean-up operation this Wednesday, April 15. Part of an inter-communal clean-up program, the initiative aims to clean up public spaces and raise residents' awareness of the importance of a healthy environment.

Between citizen mobilization and technical deployment, here's a look back at a morning dedicated to urban cleanliness, which brought together delegations from several of the capital's districts, with the ambition of transforming the district's image for good.

The work was kicked off on site by the mayor of the 3ᵉ arrondissement, Ahmat Goni Tidjani, surrounded by his deputy Gabdibé Passalet, as well as several mayors from other communes. This massive presence of municipal authorities testifies to the importance attached to urban sanitation and inter-communal solidarity.

In his speech, Mayor Ahmat Goni Tidjani reaffirmed that the stakes of this initiative are aesthetic, safety and health. He emphasized that the main aim of the operation was to clear the roadways to improve the flow of traffic, while at the same time reducing accumulated dust.

This dust, raised by passing vehicles, is an aggravating factor in traffic accidents and respiratory illnesses among local residents. The operation was also marked by strong citizen mobilization.

Throughout the day, teams of volunteers were deployed on several strategic routes, including avenuesJean-Paul II (ex-Bokassa) and Goukouni Weddeye avenues, as well as Routouang, Charles de Gaulle, Chérif Idjélé, Maréchal and Kerim Nassour avenues. Equipped with cleaning equipment, municipal workers and volunteers set about dusting, desanding and cleaning the roadside verges. This large-scale deployment, supported by the local authorities, marks an important step towards improving the urban environment in N'Djamena.
