France/Nîmes, Pissevin district: every week, the Sabrina association cooks for the most deprived people.

The Sabrina association has been in existence since 2006. It offers workshops exploring practical areas.

"I give sewing and cooking classes to people who want to learn," says Fatiha Achour, president and founder of the association. We also work on the creation of clothes, accessories, we do alterations... The only limits we have are those of our imagination."

A hundred meals delivered every week

And then, beyond the simple fact of learning sewing or improving one's cooking skills, "the workshops are a space for exchange where you can create your own personal style.The workshops are a place where social bonds are created, where experiences are shared and where women are empowered," continues Sabrina Berrehou, a volunteer from the association.

At the request of the Gard prefecture, the women put their cooking skills at the disposal of the most vulnerable: "Every Tuesday during the winter period, we prepare meals that we offer to the most underprivileged in partnership with the associations ADPS and Générations Futures," says Naïla Sabikina, another volunteer.

The project focuses on a balanced, healthy and complete diet. Volunteers from the three associations deliver around 100 meals every week.

Tea room and sports hall soon to open

Always listening to the inhabitants of Pissevin, the association sets up the actions that its public wishes to carry out. "We have set up a large room, on the ground floor of the Watteau Tower, as a tea room and sports hall. Everything is ready and functional. We are no longer waiting for the measures related to the health crisis to be lifted to open it and welcome the public," concludes Fatiha Achour, more motivated than ever to work for her neighborhood.
