The meal was enlivened by the pop duo Gibann and Mathilde, who spent three hours performing the biggest hits of recent years. Several attendees even joined the singers in singing along to the most famous choruses of French pop songs. It was an afternoon of fellowship and good cheer, praised by Florence Chartier-Loman, mayor of Fouras, and Dimitri Poursine, deputy mayor for culture and heritage.

Beaujolais Nouveau Cabaret

The association’s mission is to foster exchanges with its sister cities as well as within the Fouras community. The Twinning Committee is organizing two other events for 2026, including the “Beaujolais Nouveau Cabaret” evening, themed “Heritage of France,” on Thursday, November 19, 2026. During the evening, attendees will be able to sample the 2026 Beaujolais Nouveau (in moderation) while enjoying the dance performance “Odyssée,” presented by the group Etinc’elles.

The committee’s final event of 2026 will take place on Friday, December 11, with a trip on the tourist railway from Saujon to La Tremblade. The Twinning Committee has reserved an entire dining car on the “Seudre-Océan-Express” operated by the Trains & Traction association. The trip will take place in air-conditioned cars originally from Switzerland, where they served on the Voralpen Express route between Lucerne and St. Gallen before being completely renovated in Aytré, where they were given an Orient-Express-style livery.
