The Volovat-Burla Sister City Association is already planning its upcoming events. Members gathered on Friday, October 9, at the Henri-Victor-Mallard Hall for the general meeting, where they discussed, among other things, the events that will mark the coming year.

First, the association will host a screening of the Romanian film “Kontinental 25” by Radu Jude, scheduled for February. In March, the public can look forward to a concert by Lilie Printemps, titled “D’âmes rebelles,” at Le Piment (Mortagne-sur-Sèvre). But the highlight will be the trip to Romania, scheduled for July 2027. The dates have yet to be finalized, but President Jean-François Gaboriau already emphasizes: “The invitation is open to all residents of our towns.” He hopes to welcome new participants to keep this friendship, which has lasted more than 35 years, alive.

Although there was no official trip this year, exchanges have continued unabated. Two residents of La Verrie spent Easter in Bukovina, while fifteen students from the Olivier-Messiaen Middle School in Mortagne-sur-Sèvre participated in Erasmus+ trips. Photos and videos sent regularly by the Romanian partners also help maintain ties between the communities.
