On the occasion of the meetings of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie and the Francophone Youth Parliament in Yaoundé, the AUF Regional Directorate – Central Africa and the Great Lakes – was fully engaged in engaging with the young delegates and promoting synergies among young people, the academic community, and policymakers.

From July 8 to 10, 2026, the Cameroonian capital hosted the 51st session of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie as well as the 11th edition of the Francophone Youth Parliament. In this exceptional setting, the AUF—Central Africa and the Great Lakes, under the supervision of its Regional Director, Mr. Jean-Luc KONAN, opened the doors of its offices to the young parliamentarians.

Three major priorities guided the discussions during this visit: strengthening youth entrepreneurship and employability; leveraging scientific diplomacy as a driver of innovation and inter-state cooperation; and developing a strategic alliance bringing together academic, political, and engaged youth stakeholders.

On the sidelines of the discussions, the young parliamentarians also had the opportunity to visit the Ongola FabLab digital fabrication lab and its mobile unit to learn about several innovative projects.

Congratulating the organizers on the success of the conference, the AUF reiterated its ongoing commitment to working alongside young people to promote sustainable and inclusive development.
