France/Yvignac-la-Tour. The two towns celebrated 30 years of friendship and twinning.
A delegation of eleven residents from Ivenack, Germany, visited the town from Thursday through Sunday, where they were welcomed by the twinning committee to celebrate thirty years of friendship.
Upon their arrival on Thursday at noon, the delegation members were welcomed in front of the church before setting out to explore Dinan. A walk along the ramparts gave them a chance to admire the medieval town.
On Friday, they headed to Mont-Saint-Michel, an iconic site in the region. The Franco-German group particularly enjoyed a trip out into the bay aboard the “marine train,” departing from Cherrueix. The day ended with a dinner prepared by the team of volunteers at the Kerneuf pond.
On Saturday morning, the participants explored the town’s main landmarks during a tour in vintage cars, organized in collaboration with the “Vieux Pistons d’Armor” association from Dinan. This immersion in local heritage continued in the afternoon with a visit to the Chêne Témoin farm in Broons, renowned for its artisanal ice cream.
The highlight of the weekend was a concert by the musicians of the Ropartz Quintet, performed in the church, which was packed for the occasion. The evening continued with a welcome speech by Mayor Claudine Lucas, a cocktail reception hosted by the municipality, and the unveiling of a commemorative plaque marking the 30th anniversary of the town twinning. The festivities concluded at the community hall with an evening of entertainment provided by the duo Swing Me Henry; the hall welcomed nearly seventy guests in a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Before parting ways, members of both twinning committees agreed to meet again next year in Ivenack, which will be celebrating the town’s775th anniversary.
