While waiting for news from its Italian sister organization, Loria, the association organized a trip to Cahors.

Patience seems to be the order of the day for the leaders of the Bressols twinning committee, who are eagerly hoping to plan new exchanges with their counterparts in the city of Loria. For several years now, the Bressols association has been launching numerous initiatives to foster the hope of a natural and lasting bond between the two sister cities: “There are many shared values and a sense of camaraderie, and every exchange has always left an unforgettable impression,” explains one member.

Exchanges at a Standstill

However, the prospects for exchanges are currently on hold, primarily due to circumstances on the other side of the Alps, in the town nestled in the lush countryside of Veneto, where the grapevines glisten under the Italian sun. Within the Bressols twinning committee, members have learned to maintain a precious bond that they nurture in their own way throughout the year. While many residents of Bressols are eager to relive moments connected to the twinning with the town of Loria, the association never misses an opportunity to organize cultural events that bring people together. In fact, the next day dedicated to Italian cinema will take place on October 17.

Meanwhile, in the Lot

Recently, despite the persistent heat and blazing sun, the twinning committee organized an outing to Cahors. Nineteen people attended the event: “With no word from our Italian friends, we’re keeping a few activities going within our association to keep it alive,” explain the board members. Cooking workshops, concerts, evenings dedicated to Italian cinema, and—for the first time this year—a visit to a town in our region: “This day in Cahors was filled with camaraderie, featuring a tour of downtown Cahors, a delicious meal at a restaurant, a boat ride on the Lot River, and, to top it off, a wine tasting.” This is yet another way to help maintain our connections, following the recent performance evenings held at the Muse Cultural Center, which were also a resounding success. There is certainly no denying the committee’s vibrant energy; it remains committed to convincing our Italian friends to consider—hopefully in the near future—a new cultural exchange between the two sister cities.
