France/Twinning, school cafeteria, classrooms...: Newly elected officials outline their plans for this town near Nantes
La Remaudière’s newly elected officials presented the municipality’s many projects on June 15 during a public meeting. Here’s an overview.
About 50 people attended the meeting on June 15 to introduce the new municipal team of La Remaudière (near Nantes) and present the projects for this town of 1,300 residents. A “commitment” that Hervé Crémet and his team were determined to honor once elected…
Twinning Project with Portugal
Each of the deputy mayors took the microphone to outline their roadmap, starting with Virignie Da Fonseca, who is in charge of community organizations and cultural life.
After discussing the operations of the CCAS (municipal social action center) and its upcoming initiatives (a meal for seniors on November 21 with residents of La Boissière-du-Doré, and the “Semaine Bleue” from October 5 to 11), the councilwoman discussed plans to establish a sister-city relationship with the town of Cambeses, in northern Portugal, where she is from.
It’s a carbon copy of La Remaudière. We’re waiting to hear back from our Portuguese counterparts to see if they’re interested. This would be an opportunity to build relationships, organize gatherings, and foster cultural exchanges…
Virginie Da Fonseca, Deputy Mayor
“While the project is initiated by the town hall, it will need to be carried out by a nonprofit organization,” the mayor points out.
Recreation Center, Children’s Center
Another project presented was that of the recreation hall, the town’s only municipal hall. The facility houses the Saint-Michel school cafeteria year-round (100 meals per day), along with its share of drawbacks (“loud noise,” “difficult coexistence”) and is rented out only five times a year, the municipal team laments.
“The idea is to revitalize this hall and expand it if possible. A feasibility study is currently underway,” the mayor noted.
The municipality is committed to finding the best solution for the cafeteria, given that plans for a childcare center are in the works.
Major Construction on Rue Anne de Bretagne in 2027
Rue Anne de Bretagne will undergo major construction “over several months in 2027” (funded by the CCSL) to replace the sewer system.
A detour will therefore be set up via Rue du Stade.
Plans call for the installation of new stormwater drains. Each resident will be notified in advance of the work.
Hervé Crémet, Mayor of La Remaudière
Ripoche Hall, public restrooms
As for Salle Ripoche, it was supposed to be converted into a community hall. The project has been abandoned.
“Instead, it will serve as a storage facility for community groups. Compensation for the businesses involved could amount to €12,000,” notes Fabien Pineau, the deputy mayor in charge of public works.
Self-contained public restrooms, located near the church, will be installed soon (a €30,000 investment).
Launch of a Flowered House Contest
The municipality, whose finances are in good shape with an operating budget of just 1 million euros and nearly 700,000 euros in capital expenditures, also hopes to launch a flower-decorated homes contest and participate in the national “Flower-Decorated Villages” contest.
Opening of the dental practice
Finally, the mayor discussed the arrival of the four dentists at the future dental practice. The building permit has just been signed.
The new team would have preferred a location other than the current parking lot in town, behind the commercial center, “but the project was too far along to backtrack.”
New Public Meeting on Villa Remalis
The next public meeting is scheduled for this Wednesday, June 24 (at 6:30 p.m. in the community center) and will feature a presentation of the Villa Remalis real estate development, led by Vivaprom.
Twenty-seven housing units will be built on the site of the former multipurpose hall, which was demolished earlier this year.
