Congo/ Institut supérieur de gestion: consolidating links between students through sport
More than a hundred students from the Institut supérieur de gestion (ISG) at the Université Marien-Ngouabi took part in the first field day in Brazzaville on May 30, with the aim of strengthening ties between participants.
Gathered for the occasion in the grounds of the Centre d'insertion et de réinsertion des enfants vulnérables (Terrain de l'orphelinat) located in the Patte d'oie forest, a stone's throw from the Alphonse-Massamba-Débat stadium, ISG students shared convivial moments together.t de la patte d'oie, a stone's throw from the Alphonse-Massamba-Débat stadium, ISG students shared some convivial moments together. These included the Zig Warrior Challenge, tug-of-war, running, nzango and soccer.
Organized by the management of this Marien-Ngouabi University institute, with the financial and material support of a number of teachers, the field day also aimed to foster inclusion, team spirit and conviviality among students. "Already, we're coming out of a session that has put us under a bit of stress. Let's just say it's an ordinary session, there's no catching up. So we decided to take this day off to spend some time, after the enormous stress of the session. It's a sports day tohave fun andunwind a bit", explained Rhodes Ngoulou, a student in the 3rd year of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Control and Auditing (CCA) at the ISG.
The day brought together first-, second- and third-year ISG students of all options, spread across the two sites, Mpila and centre-ville. The event, the first of its kind, was well attended by both boys and girls. "We all know the importance of sport in our lives. Hence the organization of this field day. For those who missed the event, it's only a postponement; they'll soon have the opportunity. We chose Sports Day because we're passionate about sport. I'd like to thank the organizers for having thought of a field day to de-stress a bit, and the teachers who gave us financial and material support", Rhodes Ngoulou concluded.
Lasse Mboungou, also in her3rd year of the CCA degree program, played the role of supervisor during the day's activities, particularly with regard to mixed activities and women's disciplines. "As you can see, the games went very well. We had a lot of fun. Among the disciplines, we had the Zig Warrior Challenge which is a game of studs, a bit like what players do to train. At the end, you had to throw the balls into pots and win candy for your team. We also had nzango for the girls and other mixed games, everything we know: head, shoulder, pot. So it's the fastest who wins", she explained.
In soccer, the match pitted the students of the Licence tronc commun (LTC) against those of the Diplôme universitaire de technicien supérieur. In the end, the LTC students won 3-1. "It's also a way for us to get to know each other, given that there are two sites: those in the city center and others in Mpila. It's a moment of togetherness that we've spent playing nzango, running and soccer. To close the day, we're going to share a little drink and chat to further deepen our relationship", enthused student Esaïe Faust Prodige Kinfoko, whose team won the soccer match.
