Senegal/Kaffrine: more than 15 million CFA francs for sports players

The mayor of Kaffrine (central France), Abdoulaye Saydou Sow, handed over a total of over 15 million CFA francs on Monday to the players in the popular national championship, commonly known as "Navétaane", in preparation for the national soccer championships scheduled to run from August 8 to 23.

The ceremony to hand over the funds was attended by the President of the Organisme national de coordination des activités de vacances (ONCAV), Amadou Kane, and various soccer stakeholders from the Kaffrine region.

According to Mr. Kane, in addition to the 10 million CFA francs awarded to ONCAV, each ODCAV in the region's four departments, namely Kaffrine, Koungheul, Malem-Hodar and Birkelane, received 500,000 CFA francs in support for their preparations.

The Organisme Régional de Coordination des Activités de Vacances de Kaffrine received an envelope of 500,000 CFA francs.

In addition, the five teams from the Kaffrine region qualified for this 39th edition of the national phases each received an envelope of one million CFA francs.

The president of ONCAV also announced the organization of cultural activities and civic actions in collaboration with the Société nationale de gestion intégrée des déchets (SONAGED), in addition to the civic themes planned for this period.

The 2026 edition of the national soccer phases will be organized in the regions of Kaffrine, Kaolack, Fatick and Diourbel around the theme: "Active citizenship in the service of development".
