Egypt/EWU takes key step in integrating AI to serve higher education
On Monday April 6, 2026, the French University of Egypt (UFE) officially launched a series of training courses for its teaching staff on integrating artificial intelligence into teaching practices. This event marks a key stage in the implementation of the regional project "Integrating Artificial Intelligence into Higher Education in the Middle East", piloted by the AUF and funded by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.
The aim of these training courses is to support UFE teachers in a reasoned, ethical and effective appropriation of AI, in line with the AI Competency Framework for Teachers published by UNESCO in 2025.
On the agenda: the foundations of AI and its implications for learning, the use of gamification to boost student motivation, the design of pedagogical scénarios, promoting inclusive education, and critical reflection on the ethical challenges of generative AI. These sessions are complemented by a SPOC (Small Private Online Course) designed by the AUF in French and Arabic, to guarantee the dissemination and sustainability of content beyond the face-to-face sessions.
This initiative is part of an ambitious regional perspective: to strengthen the capacity of beneficiary universities in the Middle East to cope with the transformations brought about by AI, and to prepare their students with the skills required for the professions of tomorrow that are most affected by these transformations.
In line with this commitment, the AUF Middle East will soon be supporting the creation of a Learning Lab within the UFE, a space dedicated to experimentation and the development of innovative teaching practices incorporating AI.
