Scientific launch of the ETHISSA project - Structuring bioethics in sub-Saharan Africa

The ETHISSA - Structuring Bioethics in Sub-Saharan Africa project recently held its scientific kick-off meeting, bringing together all partners to discuss the next steps in its implementation.

Funded under Key Action 2 - Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) of the Erasmus Plus program, the project is coordinated by Nantes Université.

It aims to strengthen academic and professional capacities in bioethics in Benin, Cameroon and Côte d'Ivoire, through the creation of training programs adapted to local contexts.

ETHISSA is a continuation of the ProFIB project, developed and accelerated as part of the AUF's IntenSciF - Europe Occidentale program, and is based on a consortium associating higher education establishments, players in the healthcare, ethics and hospital sectors.

Project objectives include
- reinforcing the autonomy of partner institutions in the deployment of bioethics training courses;
- harmonizing courses and developing online teaching in sub-Saharan Africa.online teaching in sub-Saharan Africa;
- strengthening the skills of public health players and links with research;
- structuring a transnational French-speaking bioethics network.

As a partner, the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie
is contributing to this collaborative project, in line with its actions in favor of capacity building, academic cooperation and dialogue between research, training and society.
