France/An intergenerational Christmas of solidarity between high school eco-delegates and associations
Once again this year, eco-delegates from the Germaine-Tillion high school have launched a major donation drive in partnership with five local associations - Restos de cœur, ASL, Secours populaire, Secours catholique and Noël solidarité - which redistribute toys for the benefit of children.
Once again, the high school students and their families brought in large numbers of foodstuffs, hygiene products and baby supplies, bringing a little comfort and, above all, kindness to those in need.
This surge of generosity was reinforced this year by a wonderful partnership: under the impetus of school principal Céline Fabre and teachers Célia, Sonia and Aurore, the eco-delegates teamed up with children from the "Le petit Prince" kindergarten to create "boxes of love" for the residents of Castelnaudary's Ephad. Supported by the lycée's principal Julien Delmas and the Castelnaudary town council through Nicole Cathala, this initiative enabled a large number of eco-delegates to take part in several sessions with the local community.s to join the children over several sessions to help them decorate boxes and make jams, shortbread and Christmas hangers. As for the parents, they generously filled the boxes with donated items.
It was an experience that delighted both the adults and the young people who took part in the project, which was designed to promote solidarity and fraternity - values of our Republic, but also the most important objective of all. These values are also objective no. 1 of the 17 listed in the UN's program for Sustainable Development, and so dear to the hearts of the high school's three Sustainable Development referent teachers, Mmes Fabre-Tournier and Peyre-Bizeau, and Mr. Durand. Durand.
On December 18, all the partners gathered at the Halle de Verdun for a ceremony to hand over the donations to the associations. The adventure came to a close with the distribution of parcels to local residents and boxes of love to the elderly... to help everyone enjoy the festive season.
