The "Chèque local" scheme is a win-win situation for retailers and consumers alike. The operation is being renewed and expanded this year.

"It's a fairly unique scheme, and the feedback has been excellent, both from consumers and shopkeepers alike," appreciates Laurent Dumas, president of the Pays de Saint-Éloy community of communes.

With the fifth edition of its "Chèque local" operation, launched at the Auberge Les Quatre Nuances in Youx, the aim is once again to boost the local economy.

The principle remains the same: for €3, local residents can buy a voucher worth €5 to spend at the fifty or so local merchants taking part in the operation. A great way to boost purchasing power over the festive season, until March 28. With the possibility of buying eight vouchers per week and per person, and spending them all simultaneously.

Sylvie Lagoutte, home hairdresser, and Lætitia Frety, hairdresser in Saint-Éloy-les-Mines, both confirm the interest of the operation, which encourages a few extra little pleasures.

As a sign that the scheme is catching on, 12,000 vouchers will be issued this year (compared with 9,000 in 2024).

For Laurent Dumas, this operation complements the actions undertaken by the communauté de communes to strengthen the attractiveness of the area: "We have this ambition to put in place a real strategy to develop the basin economically, aimed at companies, project developers and businesses."
