To mark the 500th anniversary of the Saint-Siffrein fair and the 40th anniversary of the twinning of Carpentras and Vevey, the Swiss group Les cors des Alpes de Lavaux gave a concert in the cathedral.

Henri, Vincent, Tilman, Jacques and organist Nenad gave a top-class concert in a packed cathedral on the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the fair, which coincided with the 40th anniversary of the twinning between Carpentras and the Swiss town of Vevey.

For 1h30, their music conveyed a message of beauty, happiness and friendship. Made of spruce, the 3.60 m horn has no piston. Vibrations are transmitted by the lips, producing sounds. The instrumentalists demonstrated impressive mastery, sending shivers down the spine of the audience.

A concert planned for Pakistan

Argentine tango, waltz, pieces by German composers, jazz music - enough to make Sidney Bechet swoon. We close our eyes and savor the emotion. We're transported to another world. It was a gift of great value that the group offered to a spellbound audience.

A final piece was dedicated to Saint-Siffrein, a man of peace and joy. The group Les cors des Alpes de Lavaux, made up of former wind instrument musicians, have known each other for 5 years. They have just returned from a tour of basilicas in Algeria. After China, Hungary, Poland and Tenerife, a concert is planned for Pakistan in 2026.
