Morocco/INDH in Essaouira: 129 projects to benefit people in vulnerable situations between 2019 and 2025

A total of 129 projects and actions have been carried out in Essaouira province, benefiting 12 categories of people in vulnerable situations, for a total amount of over 52.7 million dirhams (MDH), during the 2019-2025 period, as part of the 3rd phase of the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH).

This assessment was unveiled at a ceremony held on Wednesday at the "Tafoukt" Center Center in Essaouira, to mark the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.The ceremony was attended by local officials, representatives of the relevant external services, associations working in the social field and parents of children benefiting from the center's services.

Speaking on the occasion, Hassania Dmaj, Head of the Social Action Division (DAS) at the Essaouira Provincial Prefecture, said that these actions, part of the "Accompagnement des personnes en situation de vulnéand to promote the social and economic inclusion of beneficiaries through training and psycho-social support.

Ms. Dmaj pointed out that of the total number of projects carried out, 16 were dedicated to people with disabilities, for an overall budget of almost3 MDH, adding that the INDH had also contributed 2.75 MDH towards the construction of the "Tafoukt" Center, as part of the INDH's second phase.

She emphasized that these contributions had notably involved equipping, upgrading and supporting the management of reception centers for people with disabilities, as well as the acquisition of vehicles to ensure their transport and facilitate their access to services.

Ms. Dmaj also reaffirmed INDH's constant commitment to pursuing its efforts on behalf of people with disabilities, in partnership with all institutional and associative players, with the aim of promoting their rights and consolidating the principles of social justice and equal opportunity.

In this respect, Mr. Hjira highlighted the positive impact of the Fonds d'Appui à la Protection Sociale et à la Cohésion Sociale, whose implementation has been entrusted to Entraide Nationale, in addition to the crucial role of INDH, calling for the continuation of partnerships between public institutions, local authorities and civil society, in order to consolidate achievements and further develop services dedicated to people with disabilities.

The ceremony provided an opportunity to visit all the facilities of the "Tafoukt" Center and to learn about the various services and programs offered to children with disabilities.rents and programs offered to beneficiary children, particularly in terms of rehabilitation, educational support and psycho-social follow-up.

In a statement to MAP on this occasion, Redouane Imad, President of the association in charge of managing the Center, stressed the importance of enshrining the effective rights of this category and reinforcing its integration into the community.He went on to say that comprehensive care was a fundamental criterion for their development and integration.

For his part, Khalid Aboussouf, one of the center's beneficiaries, said he was "delighted to be able to follow programs adapted to his needs and to receive comprehensive support".

The audience was also treated to artistic performances by some of the center's beneficiaries, highlighting their talents and creativity, and reminding us of the need to pay special attention to this social category.
