At the end of last week, Togo's Maritime Regional Council adopted a roadmap setting out the directions, priorities and actions to be implemented to boost the region's development over the period 2025-2027. The initiatives identified will require a total of 4 billion FCFA in funding.

The strategic document highlights the Maritime region's economic and human assets, while identifying the main challenges to be met in order to strengthen the region's competitiveness. The roadmap is structured around three main themes: the promotion of human capital, local governance and social inclusion; economic development and the promotion of entrepreneurship; and the improvement of infrastructure and the living environment.

In its implementation, the action plan should contribute to improving living conditions for the population, notably through interventions in the water and sanitation, agricultural production, crafts and trade sectors.

For the governor of the Maritime region, Taïrou Bagbiegue, this roadmap is intended to be an instrument for steering local development. " It will be a catalyst for change and a frame of reference for regional public action ", he said.

In addition, a Regional Development Plan (PDR) is currently being finalized. This document will make it possible to coordinate the initiatives arising from the roadmap more effectively, and to define other structuring projects for the sustainable development of the Maritime region.
