Both primary schools benefit from the construction of community facilities, including a drinking water borehole at the Boulankio school and the upgrading of the access road to the Ngotoko school. A delegation from La Congolaise des routes (LCR), led by deputy general manager Jacques Almaless, visited both sites on October 15, in the Pool department.

At Boulankio elementary school, the LCR company, concession holder for Route Nationale No. 1 (RN1), has officially launched construction work on a water borehole. In an area where access to drinking water is difficult, the local community is eagerly awaiting the opening of the borehole. LCR's Deputy General Manager, Jacques Almaless, recalled the difficulties associated with this project, in particular the depth of the water table, estimated at almost 200 meters. Technical studies have been carried out to ensure the success of the project.

LCR's initiative is part of its Corporate Social Responsibility program. According to Jacques Almaless, its aim is to improve living and educational conditions in schools along the RN1. " This borehole will supply a water tower that will serve the school, in particular for the children's sanitary and hygiene needs... The borehole is scheduled to be commissioned within a month and a half", he explained. He emphasized that this project follows on from the work launched in 2024 on this site, such as the rehabilitation of the access road and the embellishment of the school environment. The Boulankio village chief, Jean Claude Pombi, was delighted with this support, describing it as a real relief for the pupils and the entire community.

Some sixty kilometers from Brazzaville, the Ngatoko elementary school is also benefiting from LCR's attention. The company responsible for managing the RN1 highway has undertaken the rehabilitation of several infrastructures, including re-roofing the school, rehabilitating the sanitary blocks, putting the school back on a sound footing and rehabilitating the building. These include re-roofing the school, sanitizing the sanitary blocks, refurbishing the classrooms and, above all, improving the 400-meter access road, which was in a particularly poor state of repair. According to the school's principal, Fidèle Mayela, this support from LCR is providential for his school, which is struggling to get the school year off to a good start. " Many schools in the district have not yet opened their doors for lack of funds. Thanks to this aid, the children of Ngatoko can start their school year with peace of mind ", he declared.

Raising awareness of road safety

Beyond the infrastructure aspect, the field visit was also accompanied by awareness-raising activities, aimed at promoting behaviors essential to the protection of pupils on the RN1. The LCR team led educational sessions on the importance of road safety rules, as well as the preservation of road signs. " These signs are essential to our collective safety. They are codes that speak to drivers and users. They signal the presence of children, dangerous bends, speed limits", insisted Jacques Almaless. He added that the initiative aims to make communities along the RN1, especially children, more aware of the dangers of the road.

The 85 pupils from Boulankio and the 130 others from Ngatoko also benefited from complete school kits (bags, notebooks, pens, etc.). This donation supports the pupils at the start of the new school year, like Princilia Kinkela and Gerdon Nguié, respectively in CM2 and CM1 at the Boulankio school. The pupils expressed their commitment to working hard to make a success of their school year. " LCR gives hope to parents who are struggling to provide school supplies for their children," praised the Ngatoko school principal.
