France/Youth employment, local economy... the Region invests nearly 3 million euros in projects in Dordogne

At its last permanent committee meeting on Monday May 19, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region voted financial support for several projects in the département. The largest allocation, in excess of one million euros, is for the establishment of a learning center in Coursac.

Meeting at its permanent commission on Monday May 19, the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region voted in major grants, several of which concern the Dordogne. These grants target support for youth, economic development, tourism, heritage and education.

Education and training receive significant amounts: Aftral, an organization providing training in transport and logistics, receives just over 1.2 million euros for the construction of a new apprenticeship center in Coursac, and the Maison familiale rurale du Périgord vert, in Thiviers, around one million euros for an equestrian technical center. The Lycées Albert-Claveille (Périgueux) and Arnaut-Daniel (Ribérac) are also receiving support for the acquisition of teaching equipment (bridge crane, oven).

For youth and employment, the Mission locale du Haut Périgord, in Thiviers, is receiving 100,480 euros to facilitate the professional integration of 16-25 year-olds. The Mission locale du Bergeracois received 38,134 euros for its "Tu bouges, tu es bien" program, encouraging physical activity among young people.

On the business side

Support for the Périgord economy includes a grant of 300,000 euros to the company CPEB in Beaumontois-en-Périgord, to finance an innovative energy project based on wood gasification. Portes et fenêtres du Périgord, in Saint-Jory-de-Chalais, has been granted 51,422 euros to modernize its production facilities, which should lead to the creation of two new jobs. Eurenco, in Bergerac, is receiving 64,000 euros to train 68 employees in the pyrotechnics sector.

In the tourism and heritage sector, Domaine de Malet, Vitrac (hotel-restaurant), has been awarded 67,464 euros for its sustainable renovation. TheChâteau de Fayolle, in Tocane-Saint-Apre, is receiving 68,895 euros to open its doors to the public. The restoration of the church of Saint-Sulpice, in Mareuil-en-Périgord, classified as a Historic Monument, receives 67,200 euros.
