Cameroun

The movement of young people committed to development, led by Ulrich Ndedi, has just shown its support for the secondary school in its promotion of academic excellence. The event took place on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the end of the school year, during a solemn ceremony to hand out report cards.

It all starts with a presentation of minimum packages of notebooks, pens, pencils, academic boxes, erasers and rulers to students who have distinguished themselves in thes during the 2024-2025 school year at the CES de Nkolmelen in the commune of Obala, Lékié department, Central Cameroon region. This gesture is part of the young movement's mission.

" Through this action, we're encouraging meritocracy in our society, because we've realized that we're increasingly losing our educational values. It' s because we want to revalorize education that we're in this establishment ", explains Ulrich Ndedi, coordinator of the movement.

An unprecedented action

Reactions to the salutary gesture of this dynamic young group were full of satisfaction and gratitude, as the event was unprecedented in the village.

" It's a pleasant surprise. You saw the joy of both parents and pupils. Regardless of rank, everyone received a package, which is encouraging for these children, because in our locality, education is not a priority. We wish the movement all the best as it moves forward, and may the Almighty help in terms of physical, mental and financial health. Our main difficulty is with buildings, yet we have many pupils. We need a language room, because the orientation classes, i.e. 4th and 3rd, are taught as a core curriculum. We also need toilets, because the ones we have are not sanitary, and maintenance is very costly. We also urgently need a water point, because we're seriously short of water, even though we're not far from a river ", says Marie Cune9onde Assiene, Director of the CES.

" It's a great joy for us parents and teachers. We wish the movement long life and happiness, and hope that this initiative will spread to other regions of the country ", adds Georges Tsanga, Chairman of the School Council.

The Nkolmelen village chief, in turn, makes no secret of his admiration.

"We couldn 't have imagined something like this happening to us. I think that over time, others will be inspired by this movement to promote good practices. We are very concerned about education here, despite the difficulties," declares His Majesty Ange Abena.

The donation has certainly given a boost to the recipients, like Marie David Mani, the school's first-place 4th grader.who, like the leaders of the 6th, 5th and 3rd classes, benefits from a backpack in addition to other supplies.

" It's a great joy for me because I've worked so hard. It wasn't easy, but I managed. I'd like to thank the Tous unis pour une vie meilleure movement for this wonderful gift. Anyone can succeed through work, despite difficult living conditions ", says the winner.

Created in December 2023 and operational by early 2024, Tous unis pour une vie meilleure is a youth organization dedicated to bringing smiles to the faces of vulnerable people, as well as promoting local development. The organization plans to contribute to the rehabilitation of infrastructure not only at the CES in Nkolmelen, but also to institutions in need, of course in collaboration with partners and potential future partners.
