From May 28 to June 1, some fifteen members of the Pérols Jumelage association and a municipal delegation set off for Flörsheim am Main, Germany, as part of the twinning arrangement between the two towns. For the past 33 years, this has been a well-established tradition: one year, the French go to Flörsheim, and the following year, it's the Germans who come to Pérols. A well-established tradition that marks the Franco-German friendship.

Lasting local ties

The Peña Mistral also accompanied the group and provided entertainment throughout the stay, adding a festive touch to the event. Jean-Pierre Rico, Mayor of Pérols, emphasized the importance of these links in these troubled times: "We're going through a lot of attacks and our populations have a lot to worry about. But we have managed to rise above them and create a deep, sincere friendship that will preserve our democracies. Long live Franco-German friendship. "

Accompanied for the first time by Philippe Dufrenne, the association's new president, the delegation shared four days of convivial exchanges with their German counterparts. Many thoughts went to Bernard Comas, president of the association for 15 years, who was unable to make the trip this year. His commitment will always be remembered.

When they came to France last year, the Germans donated a violin to the Pérols music school. "Music is a universal language that doesn't need to be translated," said Dr. Bernd Blisch, Mayor of Flörsheim am Main. This year, in the same spirit, a guitarlélé was donated to the town.

These four days of intense sharing, between official moments, cultural discoveries and human exchanges, once again demonstrated that Europe is also built through local, lasting and warm ties. A meeting that the people of Pérols are already looking forward to next year, when it will be their turn to welcome their German friends to Pérols.
