Trail, Gravel, mountain biking, Nordic walking... The commune of Herbeumont attracts many sports enthusiasts and nature lovers. A new building to better accommodate them is about to see the light of day.

Herbeumont, with its winding forest paths along the Semois, is a must for nature sports enthusiasts. The locality boasts no fewer than six permanent trail courses, as well as three gravel courses, a mountain bike circuit, Nordic walking trails and classic walks. The municipality therefore plans to construct a new building in the village center to better accommodate these sports enthusiasts and tourists. The building will offer a range of services: showers, WCs and changing rooms for trail runners. It will also house the tourist office, a multi-purpose room for the Semois National Park and, at the rear of the building, a bicycle repair and cleaning station: " We've also organized ourselves around another project, the Eurovélo project, where we're going to develop a repair and cleaning station for bicycles. This will be located at the rear of the building," explains Catherine Mathelin, mayor of Herbeumont.Once we've designed the trails, we'll improve the welcome by providing additional services for users. Tourism here is very important in economic terms, so the reception area is very important ".

Construction work on the new building, which will blend into the landscape using stone and wood, is due to start in spring 2026, a project that will be largely subsidized by the National Park, the General Commissariat for Tourism and Infrasport. The total cost is around €750,000, of which €520,000 is subsidizable; the municipal share is therefore €230,000.
