Gathered at the Espace Intégré Francophone (CEF/CNF) in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, some thirty committed participants took part from December 18 to 20 in a regional training workshop on the methodology for designing, producing and sharing Open Educational Resources (OER), organized by the AUF.

This workshop is aimed primarily at university teachers, digital technicians and library staff. At the end of this training, the knowledge and skills acquired should enable the learner to:

  • Understand the concept of OER: discover the specific features of OER according to international rules and conventions;
  • Know where and how to access OER on networks: identify the sources of OER and the conditions for their free and open use, distribution and sharing;
  • Mastering the OER production chain: practicing the tools and methods for producing and distributing OER in university educational circuits.

The training program, designed and led by Prof. Mokhtar BEN HENDA Mokhtar BEN HENDA, Senior Lecturer at the ISIC (Institut des Sciences de l'Information et de la Communication), Université Bordeaux Montaigne, was structured around three main modules covering the following themes:

Module 1: Interrogating the concept of OER

  • Presentations and hands-on discovery of reference sites
  • Practical work

Module 2: Working with various aspects of OER

  • Pedagogical and technological aspects
  • Economic and regulatory aspects

Module 3: Thinking of OER as an information system

  • Creating institutional OER with standardized templates
  • OER warehouses, portals and silos

This workshop offered participants a unique opportunity to familiarize themselves with the many facets of open educational resources, while reinforcing their ability to integrate these tools into their professional practices. Thanks to rich exchanges and interactive sessions, this training not only enabled participants to deepen their technical and pedagogical knowledge, but also laid the foundations for lasting collaboration between regional players committed to promoting OER.
