Côte d'Ivoire and Canada agree to strengthen the education system

The Minister of National Education and Literacy, Pr Mariatou Koné, and her counterpart in Education and Early Childhood Development from the province of New Brunswick in Canada, Bill Hogan, signed a partnership agreement in several areas to strengthen the Ivorian education system in Abidjan Cocody on Friday, April 26, 2024.

The agreement aims to strengthen collaboration in the fields of primary and secondary education, focusing on the sharing of pedagogical practices and the implementation of innovative projects in line with common priorities.

According to Pr Koné, the agreement covers early childhood development, gender, equity and inclusive education, pedagogical innovation in all its forms, in-service training for school staff, and the digitization of education.

This bilateral cooperation will be based on the principles of equality and efficiency.

Bill Hogan, Minister of National Education and Literacy, pledged his department's readiness to play its full part in implementing this partnership. He expressed his conviction that the combined efforts of the two governments will enable both education systems to be more effective.

She added that this union is a significant and historic step for her province's international relations. The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in education from kindergarten to age 12.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Anderson Blanc, Canada's Ambassador to Côte d'Ivoire, Bafétigué Ouattara, Côte d'Ivoire's Ambassador to Canada, and the representative of Intergovernmental Affairs.representatives of Intergovernmental Affairs, present in Côte d'Ivoire for the 60th ministerial session of the Conference of Ministers of Education of the States and Governments of the Francophonie (CONFEMEN).
