Benin/Digital agriculture: AgroSfer, AUF and FSA launch a certification course
In its drive to contribute to the transformation of agriculture in Africa through technological solutions, AgroSfer, in collaboration with the Genetics, Biotechnology and Seed Science unit of the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences (FSA) at the University of Abomey-Calavi, and the Agence universitaire de la francophonie (Auf) in Benin, is offering a unique opportunity for certified training in digital agriculture. The training was officially launched this Monday, February 26, 2024 at the Auf premises on the Abomey-Calavi university campus.
Called "AgroDigiLab", this training program initiated by Agritech "AgroSfer" is a response to a pressing need for qualified human resources in the field of digital agriculture. Of the twenty or so candidates selected, almost a dozen young people are taking part in this training program, which runs until March 08, 2024. The initiative will enable participants to familiarize themselves with the most advanced digital tools and techniques essential to better explore and master the latest innovations in digital agriculture. It also aims to develop the entrepreneurial spirit to effectively create and sell innovative agricultural services and products. "AgroDigiLab" offers participants the opportunity to benefit from the expertise of professionals and to network with digital agriculture players and companies.
According to Nicodème Fassinou Hotegni, lecturer and researcher at the Uac's Faculty of Agronomic Sciences, the training course will focus on the components of digital agriculture, in particular the agriculture of the future.agriculture, notably precision farming and drone piloting, digital tools for cooperative management and an introduction to digital entrepreneurship. In his words, this is a training course leading to certification, and participants will be able to obtain a certificate at the end of the course. He also announced that the initiative would be continued over the long term, with a view to maximizing its impact and providing the agricultural sector with qualified human resources. In her speech, Larissa Lokossou, representative of AgroSfer, stressed the importance of this training in the digital age.
According to her, the challenges facing agriculture in Africa are enormous, and it is important to equip human resources to provide specific and innovative responses. The course is open to anyone with a degree in agronomy or a related field. AgroSfer is a technology company committed to building expertise in the digital transformation of African agriculture.
