Morocco/Skhirat-Témara: multidisciplinary awareness-raising caravan for schoolchildren in Mers El Kheir
A multi-disciplinary awareness-raising caravan to promote the mental and physical health of schoolchildren visited the Essalam school in the Mers El Kheir commune (Skhirat-Témara prefecture) on Thursday.
This caravan is part of the implementation of the terms of a partnership agreement concluded in 2021 between the National Initiative for Human Development (INDH) - Préfecture de Skhirat-Témara, the Direction régionale de l'Éducation nationale, du Préscolaire et des Sports and the Association marocaine de médecins sans frontières.
It also aims to bring health services closer to pupils in rural areas, particularly in terms of vision measurement and correction, and medical eyewear supplies.
According to Afnane Adi, head of the Skhirat-Témara Prefecture, this 21st caravan and the others organized since 2021 have targeted over 5,000 pupils in educational establishments since the agreement was signed.
He added, in a statement to MAP, that the target set had been exceeded in two years, noting that this year saw the programming of 11 medical caravans, at a rate of two per month, for the benefit of all levels of education.
For his part, Mouad Alami, President of the Moroccan organization Doctors without Borders, stressed the importance of these medical caravans, given their positive impact on the health and well-being of schoolchildren.
