Official inauguration of the Agence nationale de formation des collectivités territoriales in Togo
In Togo, the Agence nationale de formation des collectivités territoriales (ANFCT) is gradually becoming part of the decentralization landscape, with its recent official inauguration. The agency, announced last April by the Togolese Head of State and set up a few months later, was officially inaugurated on Monday September 25 in Blitta, at an inaugural seminar chaired by Colonel Hodabalo Awaté, the new Minister of Territorial Administration, Decentralization and Development. With him was his counterpart in charge of territorial development, Edjéba Essomanam.
The meeting was attended by Togolese mayors and their deputies, as well as mayoral general secretaries, central directors, prefects, general secretaries of the Central Region, and representatives of technical and financial partners.
This new agency, designed to support the decentralization process by training local elected representatives, the players involved in the decentralization process and the staff involved, is headed by Deny Komi Dodzi.
According to Mr. Dodzi, the creation of ANFCT is intended not only to provide training for local elected representatives, but also for all players involved in the decentralization process, including local authority staff.
ANFCT thus intends "topursue and deepen the decentralization process in Togo, contributing not only to supporting the performance of local authorities, but also to promoting a genuine culture of public action at local level", explained the Managing Director.
It should be noted that this event was supported by the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ), as part of the 4th phase of the Decentralization and Governance Program (ProDeG IV).
