Chad: OIF trains community journalists on fake news, rumors and disinformation
Training for the Réseau des Journalistes Communautaires d'Afrique Centrale (JCAC Network of Community Journalists in Central Africa) began on Tuesday September 26, 2023 and ended on Wednesday September 27.
The aim of this initiative, funded by the Organisation Internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), was to strengthen the skills of community radio journalists in verifying facts and raising public awareness of the dangers of misinformation, by broadcasting relevant cultural content adapted to local realities (intox, fake news, rumors and infox).rification of facts and raising public awareness of the dangers of misinformation, by broadcasting relevant cultural content adapted to local realities (intox, fake news, rumors and infox).
The training was attended by the Centre pour la Communication et le Développement Durable pour Tous (CECOSDA) from Cameroon, as well as journalists from community media networks in the Central African Republic (RMCC) and journalists from community radio stations in Chad.
This second edition of the workshop on the valorization of twinning initiatives provided an opportunity to present the results achieved, the best practices developed and the knowledge acquired. It also provided an opportunity to exchange views on new issues, challenges and practices in the fight against misinformation in the French-speaking world, focusing on specific topics.

Gabdibé Daba Providence, coordinator of the JCAC network in Chad, underlined the crucial importance of this training, particularly at a time when technological advances, notably in artificial intelligence, are becoming increasingly important.echnological advances, notably artificial intelligence, are amplifying the phenomena of disinformation and sowing confusion among listeners, viewers and readers of online newspapers. She considers the training to be a complete success, providing Chadian journalists with the tools they need to verify information, images and videos published, while combating the spread of false information by malicious individuals.
