China/The city of Ningbo encourages young people to contribute to local development

Xu Yi, 28, returned in 2019 to her hometown of Ningbo, in China's eastern Zhejiang province, after completing her master's degree in biomedical engineering at a university in Canada.

She has since worked for a medical equipment company in Ningbo. Over the past four years, she has participated in three key scientific research projects in Jiangbei District, and in 2021 won an award for her extraordinary work. Like Xu Yi, some 1,720 foreign-educated people now work in various companies in Jiangbei District, thanks to preferential policies aimed at attracting young talent. (Photo: Jiang Han/Xinhua)
