One more step towards the merger of the municipalities of Bastogne and Bertogne!

On the proposal of Christophe Collignon, Walloon Minister of Local Authorities, the regional government has adopted in first reading the draft decree on the merger of the two municipalities.

As a reminder, on December 15, the government had decided to present the proposal in this sense. It had also instructed Christophe Collignon to submit a draft decree before January 31, 2023, which has been done.

The date of the merger is set for December 2, 2024, when the municipal council of the new municipality is installed. The latter will bear the name of Bastogne and will be authorized to bear the name of Ville.

The financial incentive calculated on the basis of the debt of the two entities is set at nearly 10 million euros. As part of the legislative process, the decree will still have to be adopted by the Parliament of Wallonia.
