Two new structures aimed at reinforcing the electricity supply capacity of the capital and its surroundings, as well as the headquarters of the Gue de Constantine distribution department (east of Algiers), which will improve the quality of customer service, were inaugurated on Thursday by the CEO of Sonelgaz Group, Chaher Boulakhras.

The realization of this work located in the commune of Ben Aknoun cost 528 million dinars and will allow the reinforcement of the power supply of the western part of the capital by being connected to the stations of Ben Aknoun, Ain Benian, Hydra, El Aurassi, she added.

The realization of this work required 1 billion DA, of which a part in currency (of an amount of 4 million euros for equipment), explained the head of department of the GRTE Algiers, Mohamed Nadir Reghis.

This station comes to secure the supply of the capital and to improve the quality of the service essentially in the communes of Hydra, Bir Mourad Rais, Ben Aknoun, El Biar, Texraine, Sebala, Birkhadem, on a perimeter of 15 km, he specified.

As for the third infrastructure inaugurated by the CEO of Sonelgaz, it is the headquarters of the Gue de Constantine Distribution Directorate, which manages 243,539 electricity customers and 167,373 gas customers and 7 agencies.

This direction intends to create two new agencies in Baba Hassen and Djenane Sfari, in order to ensure a greater proximity with the customers, ensure its managers.

This direction realizes a turnover of 3,11 billion DA and manages three districts in gas and electricity, by planning to create a new district for the two energies in Birtouta.

During his speech, Mr. Boulakhras said that the commissioning of these two "important" works is timely in the middle of the summer period and will further strengthen the supply capacity of the capital and its surroundings.

In addition to these two stations, seven other works are under construction and others are being launched, added the CEO of Sonelgaz who stressed that "Algiers is safe from any major incident since the requested capacity represents only about 50% of the installed capacity".

He assured that his group is already working on the "Algiers 2030" plan in terms of "foresight to anticipate on the achievements and accompany the local development effort which is being set up".

He reassured "the inhabitants of the capital that in the short and medium term Algiers will benefit from a very good quality of service, following the example of the other regions of the country".

To this end, Mr. Boulakhras stressed that his trip is part of a dynamic of working visits and inspections at the national level which has so far reached 22 wilayas, adding that other visits will be made in the south of the country in the coming days.

These visits aim to inquire about the state of progress of the various projects and the implementation of development programs outlined in electrical and gas energy throughout the country, he said.
