The head of the departmental service of public health and traditional medicine (C/SDSPMT) of Couffo, Nobert Monlemey held this Thursday in the Azovè district, a meeting with practitioners of traditional medicine and the crowned heads of Couffo, to sensitize them on the vaccination campaign against poliovirus.

The objective of this meeting is to inform the practitioners of traditional medicine and the crowned heads of the department on their role to play for an appreciable coverage rate for this campaign which starts this Friday.

According to the C/SDSPMT, the department of Couffo for the first round of vaccination against poliovirus, has experienced refusals and has not lived up to its expectations. "This time, we decided to meet with practitioners of traditional medicine and the crowned heads to discuss what to do for an appreciable coverage rate and that the refusals are minimized," he said.

Norbert Monlémey added that this meeting was an opportunity to explain to each other the importance of this vaccination and the interaction that must exist between traditional medicine practitioners and health workers. "Traditional medicine and health workers must work in symbiosis, not only for the happiness of the population, but also and especially to strengthen each other and share experiences," he said. He said that vaccination has no effect on endogenous religion, but on the contrary, it is to support tradition that the Ministry of Health has created the traditional medicine service.

The departmental president of the practitioners of traditional medicine of Couffo, Barthélémy Zinsou, satisfied with the quality of the debates conducted during this session, pledged to fight a hard battle with his peers for the success of this campaign. "We must play our role for the happiness of our people and especially our children, we will go into households to bring them the message that they bring out the children of age to be vaccinated for this campaign of response against the poliovirus," he concluded.
