Benin/Installation of the first production unit in the Glo-Djigbé industrial zone: More than 20 million US dollars for 1500 jobs

The Ministry of Economy and Finance was the setting this Wednesday, April 7, 2021 of the signing ceremony for the creation of the Manufacturing Company of electric vehicles (EV). It was during a solemn ceremony attended by the Minister of Economy and Finance Romuald WADAGNI and his colleague in charge of industry and trade Shadiya ASSOUMAN.

The signing of this memorandum of understanding consecrates the installation of the first processing unit within the Industrial Zone of Glo-Djigbé (GDIZ) fruit of a partnership between the Beninese government and Arise Integrated Industrial Platforms (Arise IIP), pan-African developer of special economic zones. It is Yasmeen JAWAHARALI COO M Auto electric mobility and Darren BROWN Director of the Company of Investment and Promotion of Industry (SIPI) who proceeded to the signing of this agreement.

Through its investment of more than $20 million, M-AUTO intends to create a production line of 1,000 motorcycles and 30 electric tricycles per day, which will eventually employ more than 1,500 Beninese.

"It is with great interest that we welcome this signature for the installation of M Auto Electric Mobility (...) After the 5-year cycle devoted to improving the country's image, to work on its attractiveness, remove the handicaps to industrialization, Benin is now in another cycle 2021-2026 where much effort will be devoted to selective industrialization. »

Suggested the Minister of Economy and Finance ROMUALD WADAGNI. The improvement of the legal framework, investments in the establishment of road, digital, port, energy and socio-community infrastructures and the training of human capital are efforts made to enable Benin to open up effectively to the world by attracting investors. This is what justifies the joy of the government to concretize this signature of agreement protocol. "The government is committed to accompanying M Auto Electric Mobility in its installation process" the minister reassured.

Darren BROWN thanked M Auto electric mobility for its forward-looking vision, its partnership mentality and its investment. In the same vein, after Laurent GANGBES, Director of the Investment and Export Promotion Agency (APIeX), the Minister of Commerce and Industry Shadiya ASSOUMAN stressed that this ceremony reflects the confidence that investors have in Benin.
