The La Varenne twinning committee held its general meeting on Friday February 20. The various reports were presented and approved.

In 2025, the Twinning Committee recorded 36 members, including two children aged 3 and 5.

Despite a drop in the number of volunteers, a number of actions were carried out, including a sale of Saint-Michel cookies in January. The twinning committee also had a stand at the "Forum des Associations".

The association took part in the Loire-Atlantique departmental meetings of twinning committees, organized by the Maison de l'Europe in Nantes. A puzzle competition in Liré was a great success.

Twinning with a Romanian town under consideration

Meetings between twinnings in the Ancenis region (interjumelage) provided an opportunity to exchange ideas and help each other solve their own problems. The aim was also to prepare for Europe Week in May, focusing on a predefined country. This will include presentations in schools.

In February 2026, the mayor of Ștei (Romania) was welcomed in Champtoceaux town hall for an initial contact with a view to a possible twinning, which will depend on the new municipality. A small English delegation will also be welcomed in May.

On May 29, 2026, a Polish evening is planned with the Ancenis twins: a typical dinner and a musical show about Poland will be offered upon registration. The twinning committee will take part in the associations forum in September.

The puzzle competition will be held again on November 8. Registration runs from June1 to September 15.
