France

This Sunday, October 2nd, the Fonderie hosted Explor'assos, the forum of Mulhouse associations, with more than 90 structures present. They were presented the convention between the City and HelloAsso. Here are the different protagonists' opinions.

Signed at the city council meeting of September 29, the agreement between the city and the participative web platform HelloAsso was presented this Sunday, October 2, at the opening of Explor'assos to the future "beneficiaries": Mulhouse associations. From now on, the platform has a directory of activities and other projects exclusively from Mulhouse. Several conferences were also organized to present them the new tool.

The reception of this news was rather positive, as most of the associations already use the website to open kitty's to finance projects, ticketing or even an online store (since January 2022).

"It's business"

"The objectives are to better meet the needs and give visibility to associations," explains Yannis Pruvost, in charge of territorial partnerships for HelloAsso.

Nevertheless, some people had questions, like Hervé Kauffmann, president of La Passerelle des talents, which "facilitates the reception of foreigners in Mulhouse". The man has nothing against the platform per se. He concedes: "We use it too! [When we organize an event, especially for the ticketing, it is very practical" But he is "against this partnership with the City. This convention allows HelloAsso to make business. It's business."

To finance itself, the platform relies on the contributions of everyone. Yannis Pruvost explains the economic model. "When an association creates a funding campaign, everyone can make an optional contribution. It is our only source of funding". Note that the company has the Esus approval, for Social Utility Solidarity Company. As explained on the government website, "companies in the social and solidarity economy (SSE) can benefit from aid and specific funding thanks to the approval."

"Accompanying associations

For his part, Stéphane Kentzinger, president of the Association sportive Coteaux Mulhouse handball (Asco) will continue to focus on its social networks to communicate. "We are also trying to create a website, he continues. Our objective is to create a social link with the young people of the district and to train young people. The platform can be useful to finance projects" And, to face the crisis, he admits to being "a taker, if we can earn a little more..."

In any case, the City, through the intermediary of Mayor Michèle Lutz, was pleased with this agreement. "It is important to have a structure to accompany the associations. This will allow us to promote the various participatory campaigns, in particular, to support them in terms of communication. It was important to collaborate with this structure, which has experience and a national reputation.

The associative fabric of Mulhouse, which has suffered greatly from the epidemic of Covid-19, should see the benefits, or not, of this new tool in the coming months ... To be continued.
