US Ambassador Mike Hammer and some of his staff were received this Wednesday, March 24 at the Nation's Palace by members of the Presidential Task Force on the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA). Discussions between the two parties revolved around the preparation of the joint roadmap for the effective implementation of AGOA.

At the end of this interview, Serge Tshibangu, one of the advisers of the Head of State announced the publication in the coming days, of an AGOA action plan by Felix Tshisekedi.

"It was necessary to make a small evaluation to prepare the common roadmap because after the reintegration, it was necessary to start the implementation of what should benefit especially the Congolese people, whether it is in terms of trade towards the USA or in terms of import towards the USA. To be able to start implementing, we have to start with an AGOA action plan, which will be published by the office of the Head of State. Normally, we have the month of April to finalize this action plan in the short and medium term," said Serge Tshibangu.

The US Ambassador in DRC also took the opportunity to announce the creation of a city to allow Congolese businessmen to have financing in the project.

"We have also seen on this side through our agency USAID, assistance, we will launch a city called "Invest" where Congolese businessmen and women can come and meet financing for their projects. What is very important is that the two countries work together to see what are the possibilities to export to the USA", said the American diplomat.

It is since last December 22 that the former American president Donald Trump had proclaimed the eligibility of the DRC to the trade preferences offered by the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA).

In an interview with ACTUALITE.CD, the senior adviser to the President of the Republic in charge of international trade, Désiré Muwala-Bol'Makob, had recalled that the law on AGOA will allow the DRC to have access to the market in the United States of about 230 million consumers.
