Congo/Malaria control: agents trained in new management software
From September 10 to 20 in Brazzaville, staff from the National Malaria Control Program (PNLP) were trained on a new software package, "Tompro", an online accounting platform approved by the Global Fund to Fight Malaria.
The new "Tompro" software, which replaces Excel, is used to improve the traceability of accounting entries, explained PNLP Director Dr. Antoine Loussambou at the close of the training session.
It automatically generates financial statements, including study balance sheets, profit and loss accounts, use/resource tables, purchase orders and payment certificates.
In his speech, Dr Antoine Loussambou underlined the availability of the software to the Catholic Relief Services non-governmental organization. "In the coming days, we'll need to request two other modules from Tomate for purchasing management", he said.
The training was facilitated by Tomate. The aim is to build the program's capacity as it works towards becoming a principal recipient of the Global Fund to Fight Malaria, Tuberculosis and AIDS.
The Director of the Catholic Relief Services Global Fund Project, Dr Denis Ako Arre, announced the launch of a comprehensive capacity-building program called "High Performing Implementers".High Performing Implementers" to help the NMCP meet the Global Fund's operational standards in the areas of governance, finance, supply chain and monitoring and evaluation.
The action plan for this program includes professional training to increase skills and knowledge, technical assistance to create effective systems and structures, and coaching to support the changes brought about by HPI, as well as the gradual transfer of resources and responsibilities to the national malaria program.
