Canada/Madawaska wind project: financing package completed
The financial package for the Madawaska wind power project, located on the Dégelis and Saint-Jean-de-la-Lande territories, is now complete.
Michel Lagacé, President of the Alliance de l'énergie de l'Est, says the closing of the financing underlines the importance of the Madawaska project for Quebec and the host communities. Completion of this stage officially launches the construction phase, which will generate over 3,000 jobs.
Preparatory work has already been underway since January.
The Madawaska wind power project will comprise 20 wind turbines and will generate economic benefits of $181 million. Commissioning is scheduled for fall 2027.
