Environment and sustainable development. Date: May 01, 2023 to June 01, 2023

By 2050, Africa's population is expected to reach 2.4 billion people, of which more than one billion will be urban. With half of Africa's urban areas yet to be built by 2030, this unprecedented urban growth presents major challenges in terms of planning, infrastructure investment and access to basic services.

It also offers opportunities to design the city differently by integrating a sustainable development approach. Responding to the societal, environmental and territorial challenges posed by this rapid urbanization leads to a rethinking of the African city and territories of tomorrow through new methods, new uses and new technologies.

How can innovations contribute to the emergence of sustainable urban development in Africa? How can African cities and territories apply this innovation approach at their scale?

At the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Understand the challenges and opportunities of sustainable urban transition in Africa
  • Know the new approaches to sustainable urbanism
  • Understand the approaches and culture of urban innovation in Africa

The MOOC is designed for a general public whose interest and commitment to the sustainable city in Africa it seeks to raise. No prerequisites are required to follow this MOOC.

Next session: from May 29 to July 7, 2023, register now!
