France/Bon-Encontre: twinning with the Italians of Reggiolo also involves sport
Since 2023, the twinning between Bon-Encontre and the Italian town of Reggiolo has been distinguished by its vitality, thanks in particular to sports and cultural initiatives involving young people.
Born in 2023, the twinning between Bon-Encontre and the town of Reggiolo, in the province of Emilia-Romagna in Italy, impresses by its liveliness. This summer, the focus was on youth, not just sports...
In mid-July, six young people from Bon-Encontrais, accompanied by members of the twinning committee, headed off to Reggiolo for a weekend of exchanges with seven delegations from other European countries. The weekend, called Games Without Borders, brought together some 50 young sportsmen and women from Poland, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, France and, of course, Italy.
The Bon-Encontrais players were all members of local clubs: the Fight Club, the Indians (baseball) and the Rugby Club Boé Bon-Encontre (RCBB) had accepted the town's invitation to defend its colors at this international event. Michel, Luis, Maxime, Eliot, Thomas and Mathis performed brilliantly, taking second place (out of seven teams competing).
Italian lessons
The bon-encontrais boys were bolstered by the arrival of Emily, a Franco-Italian, whose help was invaluable in the culinary event, which involved making tortellis, an Italian delicacy.
These games without borders are a new stage in the happy relationship between the town of Lot-et-Garonne and its transalpine counterpart. Barely two years old, but already several trips between Bon-Encontre and Reggiolo for the delegations. Another symbol of this dynamism: in Bon-Encontre, Italian courses have been set up on the initiative of the twinning committee, and will resume on September 29.
Conviviality, often the symbol of these international exchanges, has not been forgotten. At the beginning of the summer, a gourmet market with an Italian accent was organized, with several hundred people attending to ensure the success of an event that should be repeated next year.
