Togo/HAPLUCIA and BOAD join forces against corruption in Togo

The High Authority for the Prevention and Fight against Corruption and Related Offenses (HAPLUCIA) and the West African Development Bank (BOAD) signed a memorandum of understanding on Friday, September 30, 2022 in Lomé to cooperate in the fight against corruption and other reprehensible practices in Togo.

Through this agreement, the two institutions will create conditions to prevent, detect, investigate and combat corruption and related offences in cross-border transactions.

Also, it is indicated that through this partnership, the regional financial institution will make available to Haplucia, its general audit department. In this dynamic, a system of information exchange will be put in place.

According to Essohana Wiyao, president of Haplucia, this agreement will make his institution stronger. " Through this agreement, we formalize our cooperation to be stronger. Together, we will strengthen our capacity to act effectively," he said, following the signing of this partnership for a period of 5 years renewable.

The support of the financial institution, it is explained, is part of the implementation of the " policy of prevention and fight against corruption and fraud in the operations of the BOAD " and the " policy of protection of whistleblowers ".
