Solar 1000 MW is designed to create no less than 5000 direct jobs. The project will develop a specialized local industry.

We know a little more about the Solar 1000 MW project. Five wilayas have been selected for the realization of photovoltaic power plants planned in the project. These are the wilayas of Tougourt, Ouargla, El Oued, Bechar and Laghouat. This is what emerges, roughly, the information day held yesterday in Laghouat on the theme of "The promotion of local content" in relation to the ambitious project Solar 1000 MW. The said day was organized by the Ministry of Energy Transition and Renewable Energy. It is part of the National Program of Energy Transition and the development strategy of local content. It is, in particular, the major project of 15,000 MW. The first phase concerns the realization and operation of several solar photovoltaic power plants, with an overall capacity of 1000 MW. In the lot, there is the realization of the facilities of evacuation and connection of the power plants to the electrical network, the marketing of the produced energy resulting from these power plants, the optimal use of local Algerian goods and services for the construction, the exploitation and the maintenance of the power plants and the devices of external Interconnection. In his speech, the Minister of Energy Transition and Renewable Energy, Benattou Ziane, revealed that "the Solar 1000 megawatts project will produce a total of about 2200 gigawatts annually, in electricity, which will reduce the use of 550 million m3 of natural gas annually. All in all, a minimum of 100 million dollars will be saved. "In addition to its role in safeguarding our natural and financial resources, the project will avoid the emission of 1.3 million tons of CO2 annually.
The Minister said that the vast and ambitious national program for renewable energy represents a strong, connected and promising step to embody a real and sustainable energy transition, which has become a reality in the world.ussie and sustainable, which has become today
d'hui more than a necessity dictated by global changes, to achieve the virtues of an "energy transition tailored to national specificities. The project aims to achieve an integration rate of 30% initially, which will launch and develop a specialized local industry.
About the standards of local content, the Minister said that "they have been "integrated into the tender to the investors, in order to ensure the quality of the products.s investors, in order to encourage and promote the development of local industry in the solar photovoltaic sector in Algeria. Solar 1000 MW will promote diversification and sustainable economic development and integrated, with its local and social dimensions, in implementation of the guidelines of the President of the Republic. This, before adding that "our orientations in the field of the valorization of the local content will also allow the development of a broad sector of services related to the construction and to maintenance of photovoltaic power plants, such as studies, civil engineering and assembly by a specialized local workforce, thus gradually increasing the rate of local content.
The day yesterday was enhanced by the presence of the Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, and the Minister of Industry Ahmed Zeghdar. "The first named has, in his speech delivered on the occasion congratulated all participants to the success of this initiative which is an effective contribution of sectors to implement the action plan of the government in its component related to the development of national integration.
Arkab also stressed that "the government attaches the utmost importance to its success, because it is a first experience in this area, as well as a first step in the development of the national integration.rience in this field, as well as, given the availability of all components necessary for the installation of photovoltaic power plants that are, for the most part, manufactured locally.
The Minister of Industry has for his part emphasized the significant impact of the project on the course of economic, social and environmental development. He stressed "the need to unite all efforts to revive the dynamic embodiment of a local industry and meet all the challenges facing the renewable energy sector, tobe attentive to the concerns of industrial dealers and create an attractive investment environment to promote investment in this vital area, producing wealth and jobs.
